About Us

Founder and Creative Director, TE Daum

An enthusiast of the North Carolina maker space community since the mid 1990's, Daum has either been a member or spent time in most of these spaces throughout the state. In 2019, she established the mountain workshop for experimentation in hydroponics and solar power. She builds, displays, and writes about small-scale projects as a means of introducing the industry to those curious about sustainable energy, whether for their home, camp, transport, or business.

Jeffrey, our physics tutor (and hydroponics greenhouse builder) enhanced his BS in physics with training offered by NCSU's NC Clean Energy Tech Center and Solar Energy International, both of which recently helped him pass his NABCEP Associate exam

And, saving the best for last, Fritzi D. leads our Sunlit Catnip Crew, traveling with us wherever we promote activities that raise awareness and money for solar education scholarships.

When we aren't learning about new things to share concerning the PV industry, we tinker with ways to provide inexpensive energy to our hydroponics greenhouses. We're also fascinated with the aesthetics of glass as we try to add a little more sparkle to our garden installations. We love visiting central North Carolina favorite, STARworks, and western North Carolina's Jackson County Green Energy Park for inspiration.

New this summer! Just for fun (for now), we'll be practicing drone (UAS) piloting and studying for the FAA part 107 exam! After getting licensed, Jeff will use a UAS for fun and solar maintenance, and TE hopes to volunteer for some "citizen science" projects - maybe counting sea cucumbers at the coast; she misses living there!
